About Me
I am a fully qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist with an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
I trained at The Metanoia Institute which is a highly respected organisation that has offered incredibly experiential and rigorous academic training in psychological therapies for over 30 years.
What drew me in?
Like many therapists, I was drawn to this profession because of my own challenging life experiences, which led me to embark on a transformational process with an amazing therapist to whom I am eternally grateful.
I find that a lot of my clients come to me with relationship issues and fear of intimacy, repeating patterns that perpetuate their loneliness. Through my own experiences, coupled with my thorough training, I feel particularly able to support and challenge people struggling with these issues.
I love the work I do and find it a huge privilege to be with someone as they bravely face their challenges.
My practice
I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2001 during which time I have worked with a diverse group of people from differing ethnic backgrounds and facing a wide variety of challenges such as relationship difficulties; childhood trauma and neglect; physical, sexual and emotional abuse; stress and anxiety; adjusting to life stage changes; panic attacks; bereavement and depression.
I believe a therapeutic relationship is one in which you can explore and experiment and that this can only be done effectively and honestly in a trusted and safe environment. This is the space in which we would work together.
My previous life
Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked in the business world for over 20 years and have experience in retail, marketing, publishing, television, advertising, consultancy and HR. This knowledge helps me in my work as a therapist and supervisor in many ways, such as understanding the stresses relating to professional life, working relationship dynamics and the pressures of a commercial environment. At different stages of my life I have lived and worked abroad.
